News published on October 30, 2026. The situation may have changed since then.

Just four days before the midterm elections on November 3, Donald Trump changed his plans. He canceled the rallies he had scheduled this weekend in Kansas (Saturday) and Iowa (Sunday).

The Republican National Committee announced it on Thursday, October 29, in the evening.

Calls instead of rallies

Instead of traveling, Trump will hold telerallies: phone calls to voters in nearly 20 states, and more may be added. Each call lasts about 10 minutes. His in-person rallies usually run more than an hour and a half.

His only planned in-person event is this Friday in Daytona Beach, Florida. It is not clear whether there will be more.

Trump held 25 rallies in October; at one point he had set a goal of more than 30.

Health problems?

In recent days Trump's voice has sounded hoarse. On Monday, at a rally in Mississippi, he joked that vocal cords are not made for a rally every day.

When asked whether the change was about his health, he said he feels perfect and that he does not feel he has to go to Kansas.

Kansas, an unexpected race

Kansas is a very Republican state: Trump won it by 16 points in 2024. But there, Republican Senator Roger Marshall faces Democrat Adam Hamilton, the pastor of a large Methodist church, and a new poll shows Marshall trailing, according to Newsweek.

The event was going to be held in a hangar at the Salina airport.

The end of the campaign

On Thursday Trump was in South Carolina, his second visit in a month. There, Republican Darline Graham, sister of the late Senator Lindsey Graham, faces Democrat Annie Andrews, a pediatrician.

Tuesday's elections will decide who controls Congress during the last two years of Trump's term.
