Peru's big soccer derby was a thriller. Sporting Cristal beat Alianza Lima 3-2 on Thursday, October 29 at the Alberto Gallardo stadium in Lima.

It was matchday 14 of the 2026 Torneo Clausura of Liga 1.

Five goals and a comeback

Cristal took an early lead: Luis Iberico scored in the 5th minute.

Alianza turned it around. Jairo Vélez equalized with a great goal after a poor clearance, and Eryc Castillo made it 1-2 in the 42nd minute.

But before halftime, Hernán Barcos leveled at 2-2 in stoppage time. Barcos used to play for Alianza and celebrated the goal against his former team.

The late winner

In the 92nd minute, after a double save by Alianza goalkeeper Alejandro Duarte, the ball fell to Santiago González, who scored the 3-2.

Alianza Lima played at the Alberto Gallardo stadium again after 10 years.

Tension on the field

There was a heated argument between Barcos and Alianza coach Pablo Guede during the match. According to Infobae, it continued at the end, on the way to the locker rooms.

Alianza played without two of their stars, Paolo Guerrero and Esteban Pavez, both injured.

The standings

With this win, Cristal reach 28 points and regain first place in the Clausura. They are level with Sport Huancayo but ahead on goal difference.

Alianza, who had 25 points before the match, lose ground in the title race.
